Residence Committee Report for March

Notes from committee meeting on March 2, 2014, at 12:30 p.m.

Present: Ariel Harrison, Marty Carroll, Guthrie Miller, and David Murphy

The Residence Committee met with our Resident, David Murphy, on March 2, 2014. The primary purpose of our meeting was to discover if the meeting’s arrangement with David Murphy to be our Resident Friend and Caretaker was satisfactory to both parties, at this six-month interval since he began his time with us. In preparation for this meeting, the committee solicited input from all meeting members and attenders who might have comments. All the feedback we received was positive. David also seemed to be satisfied with how the arrangement is working out.

During the remainder of our meeting, we discussed specific questions related to the guest apartment use, and came to clarity on most of these issues. Questions we considered were: covering the work during times of the Resident’s vacations (we have a plan), whether there is flexibility in the minimum-three-night policy (left to Resident’s discretion), whether there is flexibility in the “suggested donation” policy (yes, when necessary), ways to possibly increase guest apartment use during the late winter months, and possible avenues to acquire a better-looking chair for the guest apartment.

Feel free to contact any of the above members for more details on these issues.

Respectfully submitted,

Marty Carroll
