Building Committee Report Seventh Month 2009

July 19, 2009

The Building Committee met on July 7th to review our expenditures to date for this year and to plan for priority projects to complete in 2009. To date we have spent approximately $4200 including $2500 for replastering and painting the interior of the Meetinghouse, $500 for re-matting and framing artworks by Olive Rush, about $800 for installation of storm windows, and minor plumbing and telephone service repairs.

Priorities for the next 5 months include repairs to the kitchen window in the Guest Apartment, replacement of heater in Meeting room, replacement of large stones between cars and sidewalk along Canyon Rd., protective enclosure of the outdoor Rush fresco, and review of proposal to reconstruct an historic gate at the back of the garage, including requesting a drawing of the gate from the contractor, Ross Pope.

The Committee wishes to recognize the significant improvements that have been accomplished by the hard work of the Garden Committee over the past months, including spreading gravel, moving the wood pile, edging planting areas with stone and pecan shells, cleaning up the back of the garden including the mulching area, and clearing and planting a generous vegetable garden. Bravo!

The Building Committee could use one or two more members with an active interest in the maintenance and preservation of the Meetinghouse.
